StudySpace Returns to First Covenant on Thursday, December 6, 2018
StudySpace is our opportunity to show hospitality to Gannon University students who need a quiet place to study for exams. Starting December 6 and continuing to December 12 , expect our building to be occupied nightly from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Students love StudySpace! They love meeting church members and appreciate the support they receive at First Covenant with snacks, prayers and a warm, peaceful place that allows them to focus on final exams. Volunteers are needed to help welcome students for the following shifts: 8:30 p.m. to midnight, midnight to 3 a.m., 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. and 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. You can also help this Mission In Action by donating snacks including apples, bananas, grapes or individually packaged chips, crackers and trail mix, cookies, and gummy fruit snacks. Consider baking brownies or cookies or cupcakes. Bags of baby carrots and dip are popular too. Snacks can be dropped off to the “StudySpace” donation box in the church office after Thanksgiving. To sign-up for a shift or to provide baked goods, contact Abby at 724.561.4482.
Here are a few comments from students about StudySpace at First Covenant:
- “A place where students can come to study while feeling safe + stay throughout the night interacting + studying with other students. I love the 5-10 minute fellowship break with singing, scripture + prayer.
StudySpace has helped me so much with finals.”
- “This place is a college student’s blessing! The atmosphere and people that come with it probably raised my grade in each class a minimum of 10%. Thanks for all the Free food! –A stressed out college student”
- “Over the past week, I have really come to appreciate all that this church(First Covenant) has done for the students of Gannon. I owe this place a couple of passing grades… I would like to thank everyone involved. I am truly grateful.”
- “Somewhere safe I can study all night at and where I can help find God and bring him back into my life. Where I can just be and know he’s helping me along the way.”
