Thank you, Rev. Dr. John C. Welch for sharing a challenge with us today. After years in the computer technology and information systems management field, Rev. Welch transitioned to Vice President for Student Services, Community Engagement & Dean of Students at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (PTS). Dr. Welch holds a Masters of Divinity from PTS and a PhD from Duquesne University in Healthcare Ethics. Dr. Welch has served on Pittsburgh’s 5-member Ethics Hearing Board and as head chaplain with the Pittsburgh Police. Currently, Rev. Welch serves on Ethics Committees of Forbes Hospital (Allegheny Health Network) and UPMC Passavant. In 2017, Rev. Welch was a mayoral candidate for the City of Pittsburgh. Honors he has received include the Human Rights Award from Church Women United, Inc., Pastor of the Year Award from the Pittsburgh Branch of the NAACP and the Racial Justice Award from the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh. Rev. Welch is married to a Presbyterian pastor and together he and his wife have four children and three grandchildren.
