Mission In Action: Our Neighbor’s Place – Thank you!
The 2018-2019 season for Our Neighbors’ Place has concluded and we do so with tremendous gratitude for the help and support provided by the congregation at FPCC. The final two weeks that we hosted, from Feb. 13 – Feb. 27, 2019 were the busiest we have ever experienced. The average number of guests per night during this session was 65 guests. This is 18-20 guests higher than the normal average, and we had three nights with 70 and 71 guests. This is a lot of people with different personalities to work with.
We cannot say “thank you” enough to all of you that gave of your time, talent and treasure to make this shelter session successful. When we think of time, talent and treasure, we often think of stewardship drives, but these gifts are so necessary for effective ministry. Thank you to those who gave the gift of time and talent, by volunteering at the shelter; by staying awake in the night so the guests could sleep, by distributing blankets and clearing cots, by distributing clothing, towels and toiletries, by preparing and serving food, by cleaning up and doing dishes, by helping with difficult situations. Thank you to those who gave of your treasure by shopping for items on the giving tree, by buying the food that was served, and by donating financially to Our Neighbors’ Place. Also, thank you to those who hold this ministry in your prayers. Your prayers are felt by those at the shelter who are trying hard to make things work and keep the peace. We know that God is good and is holding onto each of us as we seek to serve our risen Christ by following His command to love our neighbor. Thank you for being part of that shared love.
Joy and peace, Dale and Pat
