The Mission Study Committee is at the midpoint in its work.

Over the past several weeks, our 8-member team has met three times in Room 116. Each gathering has been marked by thoughtful conversation, honest reflection, humor and a genuine willingness to listen carefully to one another.

The perspectives around the table are varied, and that diversity has strengthened the deliberative process. Our dialogue has been wide-ranging, often challenging, and consistently grounded in a shared desire for clarity in seeking God’s direction for this faith community.

While our work is still unfolding, a clearer path is beginning to form. Themes are emerging. Priorities are taking shape. We are moving from a collection of ideas toward a more focused understanding of where God may be calling us to deepen our ministry and strengthen our future together.

We’re now in a phase in which it is most important to broaden perspective by engaging the congregation. We need to hear from you.

To that end, a short Mission Study survey was sent to you by email, and for those who prefer and/or require printed versions, copies are available in the sanctuary for you to take and complete. They can also be picked up through the week in the office.

This is a 3-page survey, which should take no more than 15 minutes to finish. Please complete it online or return the physical copy by Sunday, March 1.

Your participation is essential for a comprehensive and accurate mission study. The Committee can reflect and discuss, but we cannot fully discern direction without understanding the experiences, hopes, and concerns of our whole church community. This survey is a critical part of that process.

To avoid any confusion, this is the second survey you are being asked to participate in. The Faith Formation Committee, chaired by Elder Diane Sutton, developed a survey that was introduced here on Jan. 11, in that committee’s efforts at discerning the role of faith formation in the life of the congregation.

The Apostle Paul says in his letter to the Ephesians, “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)

Thank you for taking the time to faithfully contribute to this process. We are grateful for your participation and your continued prayers as this work of discipleship moves forward.

The Committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 28.

Blog comments will be sent to the moderator
